The Elder Scrolls: Arena is an open world action role-playing video game. It is a work of Bethesda Softworks and was released on March 25, 1994 for MS-DOS. The first Elder-scrolls game, it allows the player to explore the world of Tamriel, a fantasy realm with magical powers. In the Elder-scrolls, the player takes the role of a wizard, a mage, or a hunter.
The Elder Scrolls: Arena is played from a first-person perspective. Players move their characters in a turn-based battle by clicking the right mouse button and dragging across the screen. If you want to use magic, you can select the spell in the magic menu and fire it. During nighttime, players can steal items from stores and pickpocket a few enemies. The game was one of the first RPGs to have a day/night cycle. In addition, players were required to face monsters and evil in order to survive.
The Elder Scrolls: Arena was originally developed for personal computers running MS-DOS. MS-DOS was a widely used operating system in the first half of the 1990s, and most IBM computers shipped with MS-DOS. Windows eventually came out with a replacement called XP, and MS-DOS was left behind. This program also inspired several thousand games, which were later made for the format. Most people can run this game on their PC using the free DOSBox emulator.
